GCC PASTOR'S NOTES - July 21, 2019

We’re approaching the halfway point of this blazing Summer!  Our time is so precious on Sundays, there’s not enough time for me to tell you all that’s going on.  This is a space for occasional updates on special events, announcements, reports on World Missions, etc.

Make the book live to me, O Lord. Show me yourself within your Word. Show me myself and show me my Savior, and make the book live to me, for Jesus’ sake. Amen..jpg

Each Sunday at Grace, we have age-appropriate instruction in God’s Word! Like many of you, I’m especially thankful for the love and attention these precious servants invest each week.

Your current regular Sunday School teachers from Pre-K to Adults are:

  • Esther Goldstein (PreK - 3rd)

  • Sarah Head (4th - 8th)

  • Pastor Norman Lee (Adult)

Your rotating Children’s Church leaders are Kiley Thiel, Pastor Norman Lee, Bill & Durleen Odom, and Mark Peskir. There is a whole team that rotates to care for our smallest children - I’ll feature them soon, too!

LINK: Here are 10 ways you can you pray for the teachers working with children!

I would also like to thank:

  • Everyone who helps pitch in for our Sundays on the Porch. From setup to teardown, thanks to everyone.

  • The Halls for hosting a beautiful drop-in with delicious desserts last Sunday (7/14) for my family to spend some precious time with so many of you.

Thoughts from Sunday (21-July)

The text and sermon this past Sunday was incredibly evangelistic. I would ask that you pray for much fruit as a result from that. No doubt, even among our number assembled on Sunday there were some who have put their confidence in all manner of things other than Christ for their right standing with God.

I’m so very thankful for the worship team and for Julia’s leadership. That song, “How Deep The Father’s Love” has continued to resonate in my soul since the weekend. If you want a little more insight into that, or to read those lyrics again, Stuart Townend’s site has a nice piece on it. CLICK HERE: HOW DEEP THE FATHER’S LOVE FOR US.

Membership Class:

It was such a delight to hang out with the 8 people who finished the class over the last 2 weeks. They are exploring the next steps toward membership at Grace Covenant Church. Please continue to pray for them as they’re on this pathway. We’ll have another class in the Fall - be watching for that.

#SouthEnd Outreach

Praise the Lord for the group of 13 students plus 2 leaders from West Cabarrus Church that came to GCC on Thursday morning of this week to serve. Half of them worked with Faith, Hope, & Love to help prepare their space for the upcoming semester. The other half walked around the LightRail stop and surrounding area to personally invite our neighbors who were out and share the Gospel with anyone that leaned in. 42 people were engaged and invited to church.

Let’s go make disciples…together,

GCC PASTOR'S NOTES - June 16, 2019

Happy Father’s Day!  Our time is so precious on Sundays, there’s not enough time for me to tell you all that’s going on.  We’re working on a platform for this type of occasional update from me on special events, announcements, reports on World Missions, etc (i.e. blog could be up in a couple weeks). In the meantime, let’s stay in touch!

Our Sundays at Grace are already so special.  The addition of “porch time” after our worship gathering this Summer has already been a hit, too.  If you haven’t joined us yet, plan to stay an extra 15 minutes on Sundays so you can spend time with your Grace Covenant Family…we love guests too!

I want to say thank you to:

  • Sally Wolff who has worked behind the scenes to make sure we have the refreshments we need (including Gluten & Nut Free selections).

  • The Deacons who handle set up and tear down of equipment on the porch.

  • Joanna Lindstrom who recently asked to help coordinate.

  • All of you who just pitch in and make sure things are handled well.

SUNDAY’S MESSAGE: June 16, 2019

Philippians 1:27-30 - Living Out the Gospel Together - Part 1 (of 2)

YouVersion Bible Notes:

This morning’s text was quite challenging.  Paul’s attention has now turned to spell out some important things for the Philippians.  He wants to get a report back that the church is not risk-averse when it comes to reaching others with the glorious gospel of Jesus Christ.  For us, living out the Gospel means to 1) Stand Firm and knowing that we are to 2) Be The Sign that God has sent to this lost and dying world.

I hope you’ll make every effort to join us next week where we pick up Part 2 with the instruction to “Believe and Suffer Well”.

Need to catch up on the series? Listen here:

JUNE 23 @ 8:45am  AND  JUNE 30 @ 8:45am

Are you ready to be a covenant member of Grace?   Do you want to investigate further before you make that commitment?  Then this class is for you.

Join our Founding Pastor, Daren McGrew and me as we explore Church Membership together.  This 2-Session class is great for anyone (students-adults) considering joining Grace Covenant Church.

We’ll meet in the "Library" on the 2nd Floor in the Educational Building (across from the Adult Sunday School Room).  It’s 1 class that has 2 parts/sessions.

If you’re interested and not yet signed up, please email me by Wednesday, June 19, 2019. Here is the link to the Facebook Event!

In Christ,

-Pastor Chad A. Miller

I am humbled and excited to announce that I have accepted the call to serve as Senior Pastor of Grace Covenant Church in Charlotte, NC. We have been blessed and greatly encouraged through the 6-month process.

We are grateful as we reflect on these past 10+ years worshiping and serving at West Cabarrus Church. We praise God for their love and support through this transition.

Installation at GCC will be Palm Sunday. I’ll begin preaching on Resurrection Sunday (April 21, 2019). Please pray for our family during this season! This is the Lord’s doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes!
